We love the local church. Our mission is to see churches in Southern Africa rise up and respond to the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of their own communities. Over and over again we are astounded at the quality of the pastors and church leaders already in place in the most remote villages and areas we serve. Men and women who exemplify calling, passion and care. We do not believe the problem is human capital.A question we often ask African church and community leaders is “Why do you think that in this specific moment of time, God has you here in this community?” We get responses like, “I was born here” or “to build a church” which are only part of the story. We believe that that God has them there to love. To be like Jesus: to lead with spiritual maturity and calling, to care for the sick, take care of widows, love orphans, to respond to injustices, to build and love the Church. So what are we doing if there are already impactful village leaders? Unfortunately, there are obstacles that hinder these leaders from continually being able to further God's kingdom on their own beyond a certain point. We help by providing 5 things: Resources, Tethering (helping them develop valuable relationships), Hope, Accountability, and Vision. Our current model is to address the major issues seen all over Southern Africa through our four main programs: Care, Education, Ministry, and FOod & Agriculture.
Orchard Africa focus: Religion & Spirituality
We work to empower local African churches through four major programs. Each program has been developed to ensure that it is practical, effective and sustainable through an established church and its pastor. We teach, train and fund these churches to implement our programs. Our hope is that individuals in a community do not know who we are. Instead a community looks to the local church and the ministry they are providing. Our four projects are Care, Education, Ministry, and Food & Agriculture.
