As the largest animal rescue in South Carolina, Charleston Animal Society uses a variety of innovative strategies that are based on proven scientific methods to address the issues of animal cruelty and overpopulation. The Society's services and projects include outreach programs to educate children on being humanitarians, food banks for pets, and wide-reaching spay and neuter programs. The organization also reaches out to and collaborates with lawmakers and police officers to ensure that animal cruelty laws are upheld and strengthened whenever possible. All its efforts make the Charleston Animal Society capable of saving the lives of almost 20,000 animals per year, which is more than all other animal organizations in Charleston combined.
