Established in 1925, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy is a nonprofit organization whose primary goal is to care for and preserve the Appalachian Trail. The Conservancy's responsibilities include the management of over 250,000 acres of public lands by keeping trails open, facilities clean and safe, and boundaries safeguarded, as well as the immense task of monitoring hundreds of endangered species that are living on the Appalachian Trail. With a clear mission to manage, preserve, and connect with the human spirit through the wonders of nature, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy strives to preserve the trail for generations to come.
