The mission of the Civil War Trust is the preservation of America’s hallowed battlegrounds and is the nation's largest nonprofit devoted to this goal. General focus is placed on Civil War battlefields, but the Trust also works to preserve battlefields from the War of 1812 and the Revolutionary War. The Trust operates educational programs and heritage tourism initiatives as a means of informing the public about the important moments in history that these battlefields represent.
